Day 2; Serena & Venus powering through 6-0 6-3

Serena Williams and her sister Venus Williams, started their Wimbledon Doubles Campaign with an easy win against Tatiana Poutchek and Anastasia Rodionova, by slaughtering them 6-0 6-3 in 55 minutes.

As I wasn’t able to watch any of the match, I can’t comment on how they played, from what I’ve heard they were really aggressive.

In their 2nd round they will face Marta Domachowska and Agnieszka Radwanska. The match will be probably played tomorrow on one of the televised courts.

Day 2; Venus Williams Glamours 7-6 6-1

The second favorite of mine at the ladies side, Venus Williams, has safely passed onto the next round, beating Naomi Cavaday.

Naomi Cavaday impressed Venus Williams with her form on court, citating;

“She played really great today, especially in that first set,” said Williams, who was playing her first grasscourt match of the year. “I was very impressed with her game.

After a hard fought first set, where Venus Williams prevailed with 7-6 (5). She swept through the second set, by raising her form. She took the set by 6-1 in 21 minutes. To eventually win the match by 7-6 6-1 in 1 hour and 17 minutes.

Venus Williams, next to Roger Federer, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova also set a fashion standard by wearing an elgant white dress. More about that will be revealed in my next post.

Day 1; Simone Bolelli aces it out 7-6 4-6 6-3 7-6

On the men’s side of Wimbledon, one of my favorites is Simone Bolelli. He isn’t very known yet, but I think he’ll be known soon, if not, I’m still his fan and will forever be. Now that’s my definition of being a fan ! ;-)

Simone Bolelli, probably stepped on court with the feeling that he doesn’t have anything to lose here, only gain. With this 4-set-win he equals his best performance at Wimbledon so far. So we can say he’s still a newbie on grass. But newbies can be dangerous if they get their rhythm and confidence going.

Overall I thought Simone played a great match, he served 18 aces and almost none double faults. Although he made a few errors (45). This is something I think is related to the fact he isn’t very used to grass at the moment, and will kink it out in the next matches.

Next up he’s facing Fernando Gonzalez, a past Quarter-Finalist at Wimbledon in 2005. Last year he reached the 3rd round at Wimbledon.

The head to head between Bolelli and Gonzalez is 0-2. Even though he lost to Gonzalez 2 times, it were very close matches, included tie-breakers.

If Simonecan play aggressive and hold Gonzalez after the baseline or trap him in the middle of the court, he can and will win this match in 4 sets.

Forza simone !

Day 1; Serena Williams powers through 7-5 6-3

The first one of my favorites to move onto the next round was Serena Williams.

Serena Williams just like Roger Federer came on court with a stylish, yet traditional and serene outfit.

Serena Williams wore a long-belted-rain-trench-coat. Under that coat she had a dress with several layers and a partially pleated skirt. (The top and skirt are sold for $55 each).

Serena Williams overcame her struggles at the end of the 1st set, by breaking Kaia Kanepito capture the first set by 7-5. In the second set Serena was powering and timing her strokes a lot better, each game she increased her game a bit. Eventually Kaia Kanepi was no match in the second set anymore. Game, Set and Match, Serena Williams won by 7-5 6-3.
