The 11th seeded pair, Venus and Serena Williams won the first set at ease, by 6-0 in 20 minutes, partially caused by flawless serving and aggressive net play.
In the second set, they were trailling 3-4, to win the set and the match, by defeating Agnieszka Radwanska and Marta Domachowska by 6-0 6-4 in 56 minutes.
Next, in their 3rd Round, they will most probably face the 5th seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues/Virginia Ruano Pascual.

The 5th seed, Elena Dementieva, had a real tough 2nd Round encounter with Tamea Bacsinszky. It seemed that another upset at Wimbledon, was in the make. By losing the first set 4-6, Elena Dementieva regained her composure to win the second set by 6-3. In the third set she lost her composure once again, by falling behind 3-0. She then found her magical potion to turn around the match, and win 6-games-in-a-row.
Next up for Dementieva;

Maria Sharapova, crashed out of Wimbledon by losing to Alla Kudryavtseva 2-6 4-6, in 1h24 in her 2nd Round. It’s the first time in her carreer that she has lost before the 4th Round at Wimbledon. In fact Maria Sharapova hasn’t lost in a 2nd Round at any Grand Slam since 2003.
Right from the beginning, Maria Sharapova was struggling with her serve and shots. While Alla Kudryavtseva was playing clean and hardly making errors. (12 to 30). In fact, Sharapova gave 30 (43%) free points to Alla Kudryavtseva, that she needed to win this match.
Alla Kudryavtseva will next face Peng Shuai from China.

Venus Williams, the defending champion, and 7th seed at Wimbledon 2008, seen tossing on the left, really needed to toss herself in form today, to obtain a win against Anna Keothavong.
The match started well for Venus Williams, by gaining a 2-0 lead. She then lost her focus to lose 3-games-in-a-row, and eventually was lucky that she could use her experience to her own advantage, by eventually taking the set by 7-5.
In the second set, Venus Williams, obtained her focus and drive again, she was soon leading in the set and not losing the grip, to eventually take the set by 6-2. Venus Williams needed exactly 1h45min to obtain her 3rd round ticket, by defeating Anna Keothavong 7-5 6-2.
Next Venus Williams will face Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, a Spanish qualifier, whom already has 5 matches under her belt at Wimbledon so far. She has reached the 3rd round for the first time in a grand slam. She has never passed the 1st round in 7 grand slam entries.

Tower of Power, Lindsay Davenport withdrew from her match against Gisela Dulko, caused by a sustaining knee injury.
“It’s just really inflamed and painful,” she said. “I rested all day yesterday and did treatment. After warming up, I felt like I was 25, maybe 30 percent. That’s not good enough for a second-round match.”
Lindsay Davenport, then raised the doubts that she will be even be playing next year. I quote;
“I feel like it will be my last time walking out (of Wimbledon) as a player,” she said. “I was excited about having the opportunity to play here again.”

1st Match, Centre court, Thursday 26th of June
VS
Venus Williams will meet Anna Keothavong for the first time in her carreer. Anna Keothavong has never passes the 2nd Round at Wimbledon before, she also never played any other grandslam before. Currently ranked as 92th, Anna Keothavong, hopes to spill Venus’s campaign to defend her Wimbledon title. Venus Williams with much experience in Wimbledon, will look forward to win in straight sets.
2nd match, Court 3, Thursday 26th of June
VS
Lindsay Davenport will meet Gisela Dulko for the 3rd time in her carreer, after beating her twice at Indian Wells, in 2004 and 2008. Last time they played was in the 2nd Round of Indian Wells, where Lindsay Davenport won the first set by 6-2, Gisela Dulko had to retire due to a right quad strain. Homecoming Mom, Lindsay, will try to overpower Gisela Dulko on all assets of the game… While Gisela Dulko will try to make Lindsay Davenport run as much as she can, and keeping the ball low, by slicing, so she can break through her pace. Lindsay Davenport will win this match in 2 sets.
4th Match, Court 18, Thursday 26th of June

VS

[11]Serena Williams/Venus Williams will face Marta Domachowska/Agnieszka Radwanska in their second doubles round at Wimbledon. I don’t know much about the Polish pair, but I can tell, If Serena and Venus play like they played their first doubles match, on tuesday, they will not have a lot of chances, and the sisters will prevail in 2 sets.

· Filed under Sports ·Tagged 2008, 26, 2nd Round, Ana Ivanovic, June, Ladies, Nathalie Dechy, Wimbledon
Serbia almost lost their 2 greatest players at the same time, Ana Ivanovic played a horrible match. Nathalie Dechy on the otherhand, was showing the tennis, she’s able to produce. By taking a 7-6 5-4 lead, and yes, capturing 2 match points.
Ana Ivanovic barely made it to the 3rd round, but her guardian angel helped her get rid of the second match point, by dropping the ball a few inches over the other side of the net.
She then went on to win that second set in a tiebreaker, and then went on to obtain a lead of 5-3. We all thought she would serve it out. Think again, she was serving for the match, at; 5-3, 5-4, 6-5 and 8-7, eventually she finished the third set at 10-8.
The picture on here shows the reactions we saw about 100 times during this 3h24-hours-lasting-torture-match.
I’m glad she passed through, so we can still have some nice matches, when Serena Williams and Venus Williams aren’t playing
