1st seed, and recent Roland Garros champion, Ana Ivanovic, was thrown out by Jie Zheng in 2 short sets, 6-1 6-4 in 1h10.
This loss was a logical ten-dense for Ana Ivanovic, by barely scrapping through in the previous round against Nathalie Dechy.
Whether it’s because the wind, low level, you were warned the previous match that you needed to work out harder for the next match, because the ball can’t always fall in your preference.
More details to follow later.

My favorite player in the main gentleman’s draw, Simone Bolelli, lost today to Lleyton Hewitt in the third round of the men’s side at Wimbledon.
Simone Bolelli, a player with much talent. He started the match slow, not finding any rhythm, he lost the 1st by 6-1.
Next he started playing a bit better, hitting more serves in, winning a few more points. Even that wasn’t enough, he was broken, and lost the 2nd set by 6-3.
In the third set it looked bad too, but he managed to get a tiebreaker, which he lost too. Ended the match with a 1-6 3-6 6-7 loss in 2h04.
Even though I’m sad that Bolelli lost, to a player, he could have beaten, I still feel positive. He has improved his Wimbledon and grass records, plus he defeated the 14th player of the world, Fernando Gonzalez.
Now he needs to forget this loss and get used to the hard-courts, and perform well at the US Open and Olympics.
Simo hold on, you’re gonna make it !

2nd Match, Centre Court, Friday 27th of June
VS
9 - 2
The 6th seed, Serena Williams, will face 29th seeded, Amelie Mauresmo, in her 3rd round at Wimbledon. Serena Williams leads the head to head, and has defeated Amelie Mauresmo 2 times at Wimbledon in the past. We know that Amelie Mauresmo, has an hip injury, that she needed to withdrew from doubles, whether it’s a hoax or prevention, we’ll find out tomorrow. Either way, this in a blockbuster between former winners, Serena Williams, being the multiple former winner. It will be a tight 2 sets win, in favor for Serena Williams.
C’mon Rena !
1st Match, Court 1, Friday 27th of June
VS
0 - 1
My favorite player on the men’s side, Simone Bolelli of Italy, will face the 20th seeded Australian, Lleyton Hewitt. Simone Bolelli has confidence, because he’s in his first 3rd round at Wimbledon ever. He also just defeated the 14th ranked player in the world, Fernando Gonzalez. If he can play the way he played to Gonzalez, and keep the errors low, he can drive the Australian crazy. Being the underdog or the favorite, it doesn’t matter. If Simone Bolelli can keep his head cool, produce less errors and keeps playing aggressive, he has a chance to beat Lleyton Hewitt. Let’s take revenge for your loss last year caused by Lleyton.
Forza Simo !

The 11th seeded pair, Venus and Serena Williams won the first set at ease, by 6-0 in 20 minutes, partially caused by flawless serving and aggressive net play.
In the second set, they were trailling 3-4, to win the set and the match, by defeating Agnieszka Radwanska and Marta Domachowska by 6-0 6-4 in 56 minutes.
Next, in their 3rd Round, they will most probably face the 5th seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues/Virginia Ruano Pascual.

Venus Williams, the defending champion, and 7th seed at Wimbledon 2008, seen tossing on the left, really needed to toss herself in form today, to obtain a win against Anna Keothavong.
The match started well for Venus Williams, by gaining a 2-0 lead. She then lost her focus to lose 3-games-in-a-row, and eventually was lucky that she could use her experience to her own advantage, by eventually taking the set by 7-5.
In the second set, Venus Williams, obtained her focus and drive again, she was soon leading in the set and not losing the grip, to eventually take the set by 6-2. Venus Williams needed exactly 1h45min to obtain her 3rd round ticket, by defeating Anna Keothavong 7-5 6-2.
Next Venus Williams will face Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, a Spanish qualifier, whom already has 5 matches under her belt at Wimbledon so far. She has reached the 3rd round for the first time in a grand slam. She has never passed the 1st round in 7 grand slam entries.
