Day 5; Bolelli falls 1-6 3-6 6-7
My favorite player in the main gentleman’s draw, Simone Bolelli, lost today to Lleyton Hewitt in the third round of the men’s side at Wimbledon.
Simone Bolelli, a player with much talent. He started the match slow, not finding any rhythm, he lost the 1st by 6-1.
Next he started playing a bit better, hitting more serves in, winning a few more points. Even that wasn’t enough, he was broken, and lost the 2nd set by 6-3.
In the third set it looked bad too, but he managed to get a tiebreaker, which he lost too. Ended the match with a 1-6 3-6 6-7 loss in 2h04.
Even though I’m sad that Bolelli lost, to a player, he could have beaten, I still feel positive. He has improved his Wimbledon and grass records, plus he defeated the 14th player of the world, Fernando Gonzalez.
Now he needs to forget this loss and get used to the hard-courts, and perform well at the US Open and Olympics.
Simo hold on, you’re gonna make it !

Day 5; Matches I look out for III
2nd Match, Centre Court, Friday 27th of June
9 - 2
The 6th seed, Serena Williams, will face 29th seeded, Amelie Mauresmo, in her 3rd round at Wimbledon. Serena Williams leads the head to head, and has defeated Amelie Mauresmo 2 times at Wimbledon in the past. We know that Amelie Mauresmo, has an hip injury, that she needed to withdrew from doubles, whether it’s a hoax or prevention, we’ll find out tomorrow. Either way, this in a blockbuster between former winners, Serena Williams, being the multiple former winner. It will be a tight 2 sets win, in favor for Serena Williams.
C’mon Rena !
1st Match, Court 1, Friday 27th of June
0 - 1
My favorite player on the men’s side, Simone Bolelli of Italy, will face the 20th seeded Australian, Lleyton Hewitt. Simone Bolelli has confidence, because he’s in his first 3rd round at Wimbledon ever. He also just defeated the 14th ranked player in the world, Fernando Gonzalez. If he can play the way he played to Gonzalez, and keep the errors low, he can drive the Australian crazy. Being the underdog or the favorite, it doesn’t matter. If Simone Bolelli can keep his head cool, produce less errors and keeps playing aggressive, he has a chance to beat Lleyton Hewitt. Let’s take revenge for your loss last year caused by Lleyton.
Forza Simo !
Day 1; Simone Bolelli aces it out 7-6 4-6 6-3 7-6
On the men’s side of Wimbledon, one of my favorites is Simone Bolelli. He isn’t very known yet, but I think he’ll be known soon, if not, I’m still his fan and will forever be. Now that’s my definition of being a fan !
Simone Bolelli, probably stepped on court with the feeling that he doesn’t have anything to lose here, only gain. With this 4-set-win he equals his best performance at Wimbledon so far. So we can say he’s still a newbie on grass. But newbies can be dangerous if they get their rhythm and confidence going.
Overall I thought Simone played a great match, he served 18 aces and almost none double faults. Although he made a few errors (45). This is something I think is related to the fact he isn’t very used to grass at the moment, and will kink it out in the next matches.
Next up he’s facing Fernando Gonzalez, a past Quarter-Finalist at Wimbledon in 2005. Last year he reached the 3rd round at Wimbledon.
The head to head between Bolelli and Gonzalez is 0-2. Even though he lost to Gonzalez 2 times, it were very close matches, included tie-breakers.
If Simonecan play aggressive and hold Gonzalez after the baseline or trap him in the middle of the court, he can and will win this match in 4 sets.
Forza simone !
