Not much to say about this match, clearly showed Serena felt more like heading to Melbourne and having some extra rest, so she really didn’t put up a huge fight, but anyway it’s a wise decission and it will certainly pay off at the AO2009, and a SF result is not that bad

WOW, this was an exciting match, I never thought Serena would lost that second set in the tiebreak, but she did, next on she won the second set with a lot of stamina and will and she cruised on, to win the third set in another tiebreaker. Serena is looking so fit, and great match you both put up !

Serena Williams defeated the Italian Errani quite easily, defenitely improved her level from last match, I wasn’t able to see it, but I know
Serena played that match fiercely

Waaaaw, doesn’t she look gorgeous? Serena’s such a cutie-pie. Anyhow, she’s not here to have fun, she’s here to get some match-toughness in preparation for the Australian Open which will start in 8 days ! More posts coming soon !

What a cool match this was, Serena raced to 6-3 to take the first set, then she had many possibilities to take the 2nd set and the match, yet she failed to do so and lost that set by 6-7 (4). In the third set the suspense kept on going, Serena had multiple possibilities yet only managed at 6-5 to take the set and the match by 7-5.
Certainly a good opener for Serena, although she defenitely needs to step up her level, but we know she will, cause she always does. I’m delighted to see Serena playing more than in the past, it’s a good sign. Go Champ !

What an incredible start for Elena Dementieva, she seriously has worked on a lot of things lately, that serve, has become a lot better, she really knows now how to hit it harder and make it a bit more effective than before, she nearly doesn’t hit double faults anymore. Given that I think Elena will become a main contender during 2009, if she manages to keep herself focused and mentally tough.
Anyway she kinda destroyed Elena Vesnina in the final. Heavy throphy btw.
FINAL : Elena Dementieva (RUS) d. Elena Vesnina (RUS) 64 61

What a start of the year, we saw a very powerfull Azarenka hit up her gear and excell at anything she was faced during the Brisbane international tournament. She certainly has improved by 200% since last year, better movement powerfull ball-striking and last but not least, a very good mental frame to keep herself focused.
I for sure can tell this won’t be the last we’ll see of her.

The first seed, Ana Ivanovic withdrew from the Olympics Tennis Event this morning, because of a thumb injury.
[ This is one of the worst moments of my career, Ivanovic said at the Olympic Tennis Centre ]
It’s still also uncertain whether Jelena Jankovic will play or not, since she has a serious injury that she doesn’t want to aggrevate at any cost.
[ Hopefully I will somehow be healthy and ready to play my best tennis, Jankovic said Saturday. I don’t know. I will see Sunday how everything will go. If I will not be able to do my best on the court, I will not go. I will not risk that ]
